My first machinima work was entered into the 2006 Xfire Movie Contest under my guild's name (<slashdance>). It won 4th place in the drama category. Though suffering from low framerates (on my old desktop), horrible audio quality and mixing, and an alarming lack of any flashy effects shots, the story and cinematography were well-received by several Xfire forum-goers and other machinimators alike. Without their support (and, more likely, constructive criticism), I probably would have decided not to pursue any further projects.
